My favorite statue of the pastorinhos in Fatima

On May 13, the anniversary of the first Marian apparition at Fatima, Portugal, we’ll be filming at The National Blue Army Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Washington, NJ. A few days ago I started work on the script—doing some research on Fatima, reminding myself of what happened there and the many messages that Our Lady gave to Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta.

Fatima is not new to me. I grew up hearing stories about it, and I’m sure I’ve watched The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima about a bazillion times. But as I reviewed the story, I was struck by one thing:

How could I have forgotten any of this?

As I look at the list of episodes in the first season, and I think about the many important things these locations have to teach all of us, I have to say, I think this episode will be the most important. What Our Lady has to say at Fatima is more important now than ever.

Have you lamented the state of world affairs? Recently, especially? Have you ever felt like you could take on Washington, Korea, the Middle East, and actually win?

Neither have I. To be honest, I’ve felt hopeless, helpless, and despondent. But at Fatima, Our Lady gives us a tool that is more powerful than all of the nuclear weapons on the planet, a weapon that can not only win wars, but can avoid them, and change the hearts of millions in the process.

What weapon won the Battle of Lepanto in 1571? What weapon converted Russia and kept World War III from happening? What weapon can we use to solve the ills of today’s society?

THE DAILY ROSARY

How can any of us forget its power?

Dear Lord and Blessed Mother,

Please guide my hand as I write this script. Help me to say what you want me to say, to teach what you want me to teach. Enable me to remind viewers that we are not without hope; that through prayer and reparation can we change the world and bring to it a hope that is real and lasting.

Through Jesus and Mary, I say with renewed hope, yes we can.
