Ohmygosh…ohmygosh… ohmygosh!!! Last Friday, I sent the DVD off to the manufacturers, and in 10 days—count em!—WE WILL HAVE THE FIRST DVDS of The Faithful Traveler!!!

Now, this might not seem all that exciting to you, but hey, I’ve been working on this for almost three years, so it is something to be excited about, let me tell you! Count the exclamation points!!!

So, what have I been doing for the last, oh… month and a half, you might ask? Well, to put it bluntly, compressing. Yes, compressing the HDV (high definition video) videos we shot, which are GLORIOUS in their HDV glory, to SD (standard definition) so they can fit on the DVD. And because the world isn’t completely high def yet… And it’s been a pain. HDV is newish, you know, and there aren’t really set instructions about how to do it without losing too much quality of picture. So I struggled with it, tried everything. At one point, I was compressing for 450 hours (yes, that’s like, two weeks) before my compressor just did me a favor and quit on me.

Finally, I found a fabulous article on Ken Stone’s website and it was like cake. Then, it was a matter of days before I had everything compressed, collected, and off to the manufacturers.

The musicians we’re working with ROCK, in so many ways. They helped me push this thing out the door and now, by July 4th weekend, God willing, we will be open for business. Keep your eyes and ears open for more, boys and girls.

Oh, and can I just throw in a plug for this show I’m doing? It rocks… (see next post).
